What Should You Have For Breakfast On Your Wedding Day?
When planning your wedding day breakfast, the key is to strike a balance: nourishing your body, keeping your energy stable, and avoiding foods that might lead to discomfort. Here’s what we’d recommend eating on the morning of your wedding:
1. Grazing Platters
Grazing platters are a visually stunning and practical option for a bridal breakfast. They often include an assortment of fresh fruit, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, crudites, nuts, and crackers. These platters are perfect for nibbling while getting ready and provide plenty of variety.
2. Brunch Grazing Table
If you’re catering for a big group, such as your bridal party, a brunch grazing table offers a spread of crowd-pleasers like muffins, yoghurt, pastries, fresh fruit, jams, and honey. Plus, if you work with an external grazing table caterer, they’ll come and set it up for you – taking another thing off our plate! The mix of light, healthy, and indulgent options ensures everyone finds something to enjoy.
Grazing tables are also a great option for feeding your guests during the wedding reception. Learn more about cost-effective wedding catering in our recent blog: How Much Does Wedding Catering Cost?
3. Yoghurt & Granola
A simple yet nutritious choice, yoghurt topped with granola and fresh fruit is a light, easy-to-digest option. Opt for Greek yoghurt to maximise protein intake, which helps stabilise energy levels (and keeps you fuller for longer!). Add a drizzle of honey or a dollop of your favourite jam for extra indulgence.
4. Smoothies or Smoothie Bowls
For an option that’s easy to sip whilst you’re getting ready, consider a smoothie or smoothie bowl. Blend together a mix of spinach, frozen berries, banana, and almond milk for a healthy boost. For a heartier alternative, smoothie bowls can be topped with granola, chia seeds, and sliced fruit.
5. Anything With Eggs
Egg-based dishes like scrambled eggs, egg muffins, or even a small omelette provide a protein-packed start to your day. Pair them with a side of whole-grain toast or avocado to round out the meal. This will certainly keep you satisfied until a meal later on in the day.

What Foods Should You Avoid the Morning Of Your Wedding?
Certain foods can make you feel sluggish, bloated, or uncomfortable – definitely not what you want on your wedding day! Here’s a few tips on what to avoid the morning of your wedding day to ensure you stay feeling your best:
No Breakfast At All
We get it, having butterflies in your stomach may curb any remaining appetite before the big day, but having no breakfast at all is one of the worst things you can do! You don’t want that morning mimosa rushing straight to your head, plus, there may not be many opportunities to grab a bite before walking down the aisle. The last thing you want are tummy rumbles at the altar!
Fast Food
Ordering a quick Uber Eats or Deliveroo to the bridal suite may be a convenient choice, but 90% of the choices there are super deep fried, and very carb-heavy. Not only is Miccy-Ds just not great for you in general, fast food may cause boating, and certainly won’t keep you fueled for the big day ahead!
Sugar-Loaded Pastries
Danishes, donuts, or sugary muffins might give you an initial energy boost, but the sugar high will likely be followed by a crash, leaving you feeling tired and irritable. Additionally, sugary foods can make you feel jittery, especially if combined with caffeine! If you’re still after something baked, pair it with a high-protein yoghurt or meats and cheeses to help you feel fuller for longer.
Spicy Foods
A drizzle of hot sauce or a spicy burrito is an absolute yes for a weekend breakfast, but should be avoided at all costs the morning of your wedding! Spicy foods can irritate your stomach and may even lead to heartburn or indigestion, which could make your special day a bit uncomfortable. Stick with mild, familiar flavours instead.
Carbonated Drinks
While a mimosa or sparkling water might seem like a fun choice to sip with breakfast, it’s best to avoid any fizzy beverages on your wedding morning. Carbonation can lead to bloating, and the last thing you want is to feel uncomfortably full in your wedding dress or suit. Save the bubbles for your post-ceremony toast!
Final Top Tips For the Morning Of Your Wedding
Here are some practical and easy foodie-related tips to help you make the most of your wedding morning:
1. Make it Convenient
Finding time to sit down for a large breakfast is almost impossible on the morning of a wedding. Instead, opt for nibbles and finger foods that you can graze on whilst you get your hair and makeup done. Don’t forget to arrange these in advance – work with a local caterer (like Savery Grazing!), or prepare simple items the night before.

2. Whatever You Do, Don’t Eat in Your Dress!
I’m a clumsy girl, and I’ve had this happen far too many times – just when you think you’re being extra careful trying not to spill anything, you spill something down you! To completely avoid dirtying your dress, eat your wedding day breakfast in your pajamas or a dressing gown.
3. Don’t Forget the Guys
It’s common to focus on catering for the bridal party, but the groom and his crew also need sustenance! Ensure both the bride and groom suites are catered for in your arrangements – we’ve often seen men leave breakfast catering until the very last minute, and they end up getting a Greggs sausage sandwich… we can do better than that!
4. Avoid Unfamiliar Foods
Whilst it may be tempting to go all-out on food for the morning of your wedding, avoid ordering that you’ve never tried before, particularly if it’s a completely different cuisine. Whilst you’ll probably be absolutely fine, you don’t want to risk any chance of an upset tummy!
