Remember our Salt Lovers Gift Guide? A little bit rogue, but you all loved it.. Well, it turns out there’s another pantry staple that inspires equally intense devotion: olive oil!
Some people are chocolate people. Some are wine people. And then there are the olive oil people – aka, me. You know, they pour it over everything, and definitely aren’t worried about calories!
This guide is packed with olive oil gifts – from premium bottles and stylish accessories to edible treats, cookbooks, and even subscriptions. So, whether you’re shopping for a birthday, ahead of a dinner party, or ‘just because’, here’s exactly what to buy for someone who’s utterly obsessed with olive oil.
1. A Really (No, Reeaalyyy) Good Olive Oil
Olive oil isn’t cheap – and if you use it on everything like I do, you probably skip that gorgeous, top-shelf bottle at your local farm shop (any oil over £10 is not something I can splurge on during my weekly shop!). But, it does make a great gift, as it may not be something your recipient would buy themselves.
I was recently gifted a bottle from the newly established OilWell, and it is a perfect olive oil for gifting. It comes in a beautiful gift box, tastes fantastic, and the cleverly designed nozzle makes it perfect for drizzling, dotting, and dressing anything in sight!
What Goes With Olive Oil As a Gift?
If you’re looking for something to add to your bottle of olive oil, to make your gift that bit more special, consider adding:
- A bottle of wine, from the same region as your olive oil was grown & bottled
- A bottle of aged balsamic
- Fresh bread, like focaccia to dip in their olive oil
- A rustic serving board for stylish presentation
- A jar of marinated olives or artichokes
2. Flavoured Olive Oils
If you want extra brownie points, or your gift recipient is a bit more adventurous, give them a flavoured olive oil. They add instant character to dishes and look gorgeous in a hamper or gift box. You can either buy them ready-made from artisan producers or make your own by infusing a high-quality extra virgin olive oil with herbs, spices, or citrus peel a few weeks before gifting. Some of our favourite olive oil flavours include:.
- Garlic
- Chilli
- Lemon
- Fresh herbs – basil, rosemary, thyme, bay
- Truffle
- Blood orange
- Smoked paprika
Pro tip: if you’re making your own, gift it in a dark glass or ceramic bottle to protect the oil, and add a handwritten tag with serving ideas (like “Perfect for drizzling over roasted veg” or “Try with fresh pasta and parmesan”) for that extra personal touch.
3. Olive Oil Soap
A gift that smells divine and is equally luxurious. Olive oil soap has been a staple for centuries – it’s naturally rich in antioxidants and kind to sensitive skin, making it a fail-safe gift
The absolute most luxurious oil-based soap you can get is the Savon de Marseille Soap Cube with Olive Oil 72%. Savon de Marseille soap is particularly famous in France, but is starting to grow in popularity both here in the UK and US.
This kind of soap is perfect next to a kitchen sink, or in a downstairs bathroom, as it isn’t overly fruity or floral.
4. Ceramic Olive Oil Bottle
Ceramic olive oil bottles are a beautiful gift that works for even a small budget. Your recipient will hopefully display it on their kitchen countertop and use it every day, if they’re anything like me.
Why ceramic, you ask? While glass bottles can look beautiful, storing olive oil in a clear container isn’t ideal – light can cause it to spoil faster. A ceramic bottle helps protect the oil and keeps it fresher for longer.
If budget allows, buy a bottle from a local ceramicist. Or, choose a brand you know your lucky gift recipient will love – bonus points if it comes in a set with a vinegar bottle!:
5. Homemade Olive Oil Cake
Handmade edible gifts are always a hit in my house – thoughtful, personal, and guaranteed to be enjoyed. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with olive oil cakes. Using olive oil instead of butter gives them a rich, decadent texture with a subtle, fruity flavour that’s simply divine. They’re a creative alternative to pastries or pies, and perfect if you happen to be gifting for a birthday! Here are a few of my favourite olive oil cake recipes:
- Ottolenghi’s Rosemary, Olive Oil and Orange Cake
- Lemon Olive Oil Cake by Sugar & Soul
- Nigella’s Chocolate Olive Oil Cake
6. An Olive-Oil Themed Foodie Hamper
A hamper is a great gift for budgets of any size. Plus, they’re a fabulous excuse to mooch around your local deli, posh supermarkets, or farm shops for the contents of your hamper. For an olive-oil-themed-hamper, look for:
- Torres Extra Virgin Olive Oil Crisps
- Lemon Olive Oil White Chocolate
- Black or Green Olive Tapenade
- Chocolate Olive Oil Truffles
- Olive oil–roasted nuts with rosemary and sea salt
- Fresh focaccia or breadsticks for dipping
And of course, style everything in a beautiful wicker basket to gift to your recipient.
7. Olive Oil Subscriptions
Yes, it’s a thing – and it’s genius. A quarterly or monthly subscription means they’ll always have fresh, high-quality olive oil on hand (and think of you every time it arrives at their door!). Great subscription options include:
8. Candles Inspired By Olive Oil
Candles are a brilliant gift for an olive oil lover who already has all the olive oil they could ever need! They don’t just smell like a bottle of oil – instead, they capture that fresh, green, herbal aroma of an olive grove in full sun. Imagine notes of fig leaf, citrus blossom, and soft woodiness… the kind of scent that works perfectly in a kitchen to neutralise food odors whilst softly scenting the air. The Olive Oil & Thyme Candle From Kitchen Scents is one of my favourites.
9. A Beautiful Olive Oil Cookbook
For the food-lover who enjoys diving deep into flavour and technique, a cookbook dedicated to oil, and everything you can cook with it, is a perfect gift for under £25. Here are some of my top recommendations:
- The Olive Oil and Vinegar Lover’s Cookbook
- Garlic, Olive Oil + Everything Mediterranean: Simple Recipes for the Home Cook
- The Olive Oil Enthusiast: A Guide from Tree to Table, with Recipes
- Italy: Recipes for Olive Oil and Vinegar Lovers
10. Olive Grove Tour Voucher
If you want to go big (and unforgettable), gift them an olive grove experience. Many olive farms and vineyards offer guided tours where you can walk among the trees, learn about the pressing process, and, of course, taste the oil fresh from the mill.
It’s a great ‘main’ gift, and it works brilliantly if they’re travelling to Italy, Spain, Greece, or even certain regions in the UK and US.
11. Olive Oil Artwork & Prints
For the true olive oil fan, a piece of kitchen art that features their favourite foods or ingredients makes for a wonderful gift. Get creative on Canva and get it professionally printed if you’re on a budget, or, have a nosey on Etsy for something that can be delivered to your door. Think vintage olive grove illustrations, modern abstract olive branch prints, or even a quote about olives/olive oil.
