Method

Follow these steps to make our Brunch Bagel Board

1. Prepare Your Cooked Ingredients

Start by preparing all of your cooked ingredients. Fry your bacon until crispy and your halloumi until golden brown on both sides. Boil your eggs for 8-10 minutes, before dunking into ice cold water and peeling. Slice into rounds and set aside.

2. Prepare Your Ready-To-Eat Ingredients

Now let’s get the chopping out of the way! Slice your tomatoes, avocados, radishes, and cucumbers into rounds. Roll up your prosciutto and smoked salmon and set aside.

3. Assemble the Bagel Board

Here’s the fun part – assembling your bagel board! Start by placing two ramekins into the centre of your board. We filled ours with butter and a spicy mayonnaise, but you could also fill yours with cream cheese and other condiments. Leaving two corners free, arrange your cooked and raw ingredients onto the board, starting with the biggest items (such as cheese slices) and working your way up. Be mindful of balancing colours evenly across your board.

4. Toast Your Bagels & Serve Immediately

Just before serving, toast up your bagels and add them to the board whilst still warm and crispy. Serve straight away and encourage your lucky guests to dig in! Take a look at our favourite flavour combinations below if you aren’t sure where to start…

Top Tip: Serve your brunch bagel board with a freshly brewed pot of your favourite tea, a warm coffee, or chilled orange juice

Bagel Board Flavour Combinations

Whether you prefer savoury or sweet, the bagel board offers so many delicious toppings that will make your morning! From the classic pairings to unique twists, here are some of our favourite bagel topping combos:

  • Halloumi, smashed avocado, chipotle sauce, streaky bacon (don’t judge… I actually went through a phase of having one of these every day a few years ago!)
  • Smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, dill… an oldie but a goodie
  • Chilli jam, emmentall, prosciutto, melted in the microwave for 30 seconds
  • Cream cheese & strawberries (for those with a sweet tooth, trust us, this is delish!)
  • Bacon, tomato, rocket for a posh BLT

When To Serve Your Bagel Board

  • For a girls brunch

Frequently Asked Questions

How Many Bagels Per Person?

We’d recommend serving one bagel per person, on average. However, if you know your family has a big appetite, aim for 1.5 bagels each, with plenty of toppings to go with!

How Far in Advance Can You Make the Bagel Board?

You can cook ingredients like halloumi, eggs, and bacon the day before, as they are just as delicious the next day. The same goes for the raw ingredients (apart from the avocado) which can be sliced, rolled, and stored in airtight containers until the next morning.

However, the toasting of the bagels, the slicing of the avocado, and the arranging of the bagel platter should only be done right before serving for the best flavours and textures!

What Other Spreads Can I Include?

In addition to cream cheese and spicy mayonnaise, you can include a variety of spreads such as hummus, butter, flavoured cream cheeses (like garlic and herb or strawberry), guacamole, or even nut butters for a sweet twist.

How Do I Store Leftovers?

If you have any leftovers from your bagel board, store the cooked ingredients in airtight containers in the refrigerator. Sliced vegetables and meats can also be stored in airtight containers. Bagels can be kept in a bread box or sealed plastic bag at room temperature for a day or two, or frozen for longer storage. Simply reheat them in a toaster or oven when ready to use.
