Finding the perfect gift for a cheese enthusiast is easier said than done. Aside from the obvious (cheese!), we’ve compiled twelve exceptional gifts for every type of cheese lover. These carefully selected items are sure to impress, whether you’re looking for something luxurious, practical, or unique. Keep reading for some great gift ideas!

1. Professional Knives

High quality cheese knives are a fabulous gift for someone who loves cheese – normal knives simply won’t do! This gift fits within almost any budget too – you can get a simple wooden knife set online for under £10, or you can splash out on a luxury brand like Zwilling or Paxton & Whitfield to really spoil your loved one.

You don’t have to get a complete set either, you can simply buy one really nice knife that compliments your gift recipient’s favourite cheese. Unsure which style to choose? Read our helpful blog: What are the Different Cheese Knives For?

2. Raclette Machine & Accompaniments

If your lucky gift recipient loves to host regular dinner parties, this is the best possible gift to get them! Many people actually don’t know what a Raclette Machine is, but it is perfect for entertaining friends and family whilst enjoying great food. You melt (Raclette) cheese in slots underneath the machine, and get to fry things on the hot plate on top – like steak, prawns, veggies etc.

If time and budget allows, you could also give them a hamper full of all the goodies they need to host a Raclette night. I recently coordinated with some family members to create this Raclette-night-hamper for my Mother in Law, and they gifted her the machine – it went down a treat! Here’s what was included:

  • Raclette cheese (obviously)
  • Prawns
  • A ribeye steak
  • Charcuterie
  • Chopped pepper & red onion
  • Asparagus
  • Baby potatoes
  • And mini bottles of wine to finish!

Learn more about the origin of Raclette in our recent blog: What is Raclette?

3. Camembert Baker

Is there anything better than a freshly baked camembert?! I think not, and I guarantee your cheese-obsessed gift recipient thinks the same! So, to elevate those cosy nights over the winter, why not give your loved one a good quality camembert baker?

Not only do they help your camembert bake more evenly (without any leaks into the oven), but they also help to keep it gooey and melty for much longer than the wooden ones that come with a normal camembert. Harrods does a gorgeous white and gold cheese baker (if you’re lucky enough to catch it on sale!), or you can go for something more colourful from Le Creuset.

4. Wine & Cheese Hamper

Hampers are a go-to gift for grandparents or in-laws, especially if you’re a little stuck on what to buy them. But they don’t always have to be filled with sweet treats! For your cheese lover, consider gifting a luxurious cheese & wine hamper for them to enjoy one evening at home. You can either buy a pre-assembled hamper, or take the time to handcraft an extra special hamper for your loved one. Fill it with:

  • A selection of artisan cheese
  • Chutney & sticky fig jam
  • Some crackers/crispbreads
  • Locally-sourced charcuterie
  • A bottle of red, white, or fizz (or a few mini bottles of different varieties!)
  • Gorgeous wine glasses or cheese knives to finish, if budgets allow

Finish your wine & cheese hamper with cellophane, ribbon, and a handwritten gift tag.

5. Cheese Tasting Tour

Being gifted an experience is always such a treat, and almost feels like an extension to a birthday or Christmas! A cheese tasting tour is a perfect way for your loved one to experience a variety of artisanal cheeses, without you having to break the bank. Many dairies offer guided tastings, where guests can explore new flavours, learn about cheese-making, and even meet local cheesemakers.

Find one near the gift recipient, or, if you can, try and buy a tour voucher that can be used in multiple locations across the country!

6. Artisan Chutneys

If cheese is too much of an obvious gift, or is a hassle to refrigerate before you give it to your recipient, why not gift them a gorgeous artisan chutney instead? A great chutney can elevate any cheese board. Look for flavours like fig, apple, or caramelised onion to add a sweet contrast to savoury cheeses. Some of our favourite local/Yorkshire/Peak District brands include:

Wondering what chutney to choose for your loved one? Our cheese & chutney guide might be able to guide you in the right direction!

7. Personalised Wooden Board

Wooden boards are a gift that is both thoughtful and practical, especially when it’s personalised! There are loads of sellers on Etsy who use laser etching to create gorgeous designs incorporating either a name or surname, a special date (great for a wedding or anniversary!), or a message of your choice.

Your gift recipient can either display their engraved board on a shelf or countertop, or put it to good use when making a charcuterie platter!

8. Books For Cheese Pairings & Recipes

If they’re a fan of cheese and a hoarder of food-related books and magazines, why not combine both passions into one fabulous gift? Help them to expand their cheese knowledge with a book focused on pairings, recipes, or the history of cheese.

Some of our favourite cheese-themed books include:

  • The Complete Cheese Pairing Cookbook by Morgan McGlynn
  • Inspired Grazing by Laura Billington (which I was recently gifted by my wonderful partner!)
  • The Philosophy Of Cheese by Patrick McGuigan
  • Cheese by James Martin
  • The Grazing Table by Natalie Thompson

9. Cheese Labels

If you have a friend who loves to host, and often has a cheese & charcuterie board out during a gathering, then fancy cheese labels are such a good gift, plus they are usually pretty inexpensive! Classic slate cheese labels are readily available on Amazon, plus they wipe clean, so can be used to label almost anything.

However, I absolutely adore these white ceramic cheese labels which are available on Etsy! They come pre-stamped with the cheese names, so I’d recommend a set of 3 or 5 with the gift recipient’s favourite cheeses on them.

10. Canape Plates

If a wooden cheese board may be the obvious choice, and is likely something that your gift recipient already has, small canape-sized plates might be a more unique choice instead.

You can keep these plain (but still high quality) or you can opt for something more vintage/colourful in style. I adore the BIA Camembert Glazed Porcelain Cheese & Canape Plates from John Lewis – which I have also recently spotted in TK Maxx! They come in a set of 4, and are packaged in the most beautiful camembert-style box.

 11. A Ready-To-Eat Grazing Board

A ready-to-eat grazing board is an exceptional gift for any cheese lover who enjoys effortless entertaining or simply wants to indulge in a gourmet spread without the prep work. Plus, they are such a treat when delivered straight to your recipient’s door.

For anyone local to Sheffield and Derbyshire, Savery Grazing offers beautiful, custom-made boards for any occasion – each made fresh to order!

Our famous Cheese & Charcuterie platter comes filled to the brim with a selection of local and continental cheeses, honey-roast ham, prosciutto, salami, pate, cornichons, pickled onions, nuts, fresh & dried fruits, chutneys, crackers, as well as a mini pot of honey (plus a honey drizzler for you to keep!).

12. DIY Cheese Making Kit

A DIY cheese-making kit is a fantastic and interactive gift that allows cheese lovers to try their hand at making their own fresh cheese. These kits usually come with all the essential ingredients and tools, making the process both accessible and enjoyable, even for beginners. There are a few to choose from online:

  • Mozzarella and Ricotta Kit: These kits are great for beginners since mozzarella and ricotta are among the easier cheeses to make. Freshly made mozzarella and ricotta are both ideal for pizzas, salads, and sandwiches!
  • Goats Cheese Kit: For those who enjoy the tangy taste of goats cheese, this kit allows them to create their own version of this classic cheese at home. Goat cheese kits often include moulds and herbs to mix into the cheese for added flavour.
  • Hard Cheese Kit (e.g., Cheddar or Parmesan): A bit more advanced, hard cheese kits are for those who are willing to invest time and patience. Hard cheeses often require a few weeks or months of ageing, so this is the perfect gift for a cheese lover who’s ready to take on a longer-term project.
  • Vegan Cheese Kit: For plant-based cheese lovers, there are DIY kits specifically designed to create vegan cheese, often made from nuts like cashews or almonds.

12. Cheese Subscription

For a gift that keeps giving, consider a cheese subscription box. Each month (or at an interval you choose), your lucky recipient will receive a curated selection of artisan cheeses straight to their door. This gift is ideal for true enthusiasts who love exploring new flavours and varieties. Many subscription services include tasting notes, cheese pairings, and sometimes even a little background about the dairies where each cheese is crafted!

Popular options include Pong Cheese, The Courtyard Dairy, and Neal’s Yard Dairy in the UK, which offer carefully sourced cheeses from independent cheesemakers.

How To Gift Cheese To a Loved One

You know those gifts that require you to buy something in order to actually use the present? You know, like batteries for a gadget, or refills for a fancy pen, or capsules for a coffee machine? Well, gifting cheese all on its own can feel a bit like that.

To round out your delicious gift, pop in a box of crackers (Peter’s Yard are our favourite!), a chutney, and even a pack of locally-sourced charcuterie. Or, if you had a little more wiggle room in your budget, you could build a cheese gift hamper complete with the above alongside a set of cheese knives, a wooden board, and a gorgeous bottle of wine.
