If your lucky gift recipient is a serious wine snob (it’s definitely not a bad thing!), then simply buying a bottle of wine might be off the cards if you don’t know their tastes or preferences. Instead, this guide is packed with good wine gifts and luxury wine gifts that go beyond the bottle, with ideas to suit every budget and style. From under-£20 wine gadgets to indulgent experiences, here are our favourite wine gifts for wine lovers.

Wine Accessories Under £20

Looking for a smaller ‘thinking of you’ gift, or perhaps even a stocking present for your wine lover? We’ve got you covered. Below are some of our favourite wine accessories, all for under £20:

  • Bottle stopper
  • Wine cooler sleeve
  • Drip stop
  • Foil cutters
  • Corkscrew
  • Sparkling wine opener
  • Cork catcher
  • Pourer
  • Drip ring

It could be that your lucky gift recipient already has a couple of these wine accessories, so to be on the safe side, where you can, opt for a high end brand, or something that you can personalise with the recipient’s initials or name.

Wine Aerator

Aerators come in two forms. The first, and possibly cheapest, option being something you attach to the bottle of your wine, which aerates it as you pour. Alternatively, you can purchase large, often glass, aerators/ that you’d decant the whole bottle of wine into. I love gifting aerators to those who love their wine, but haven’t reached expert level yet.

A Durand Corkscrew

If your gift recipient is known for having I-don’t-know-how-old bottles of wine in their collection, then it’s likely they’ll need some specialist wine accessories to match. One of these is a Durand Corkscrew. These corkscrews are unlike any other – they’re designed to keep old, crumbly corks intact during removal to prevent corked wine. They’re a fab wine gift especially if your budget is on the larger side!

Tickets To a Local Wine Tasting or Vineyard Tour

Experiences are always a brilliant gift if budget allows – especially if you get to tag along. If you’re looking for the perfect experience-led gift for your wine lover, then a local wine (and cheese!) tasting is a fab option, as is a tour of a local vineyard or winery.

If you’re local to me (Derbyshire/Sheffield area), then I’d highly recommend a vineyard tour and wine tasting at Renishaw Hall – tickets are super reasonable, at just £25 per person.

Hand Painted Bottle

I love anything personalised or handcrafted, so when I came across these stunning handpainted wine bottles on my Tiktok feed, I absolutely had to feature them on this gift guide! Handpainted flowers are a gorgeous option to add to any wine bottle, but you could also add a special date, message, or the name of your gift recipient.

You can purchase bottle painting services from lovely small sellers such as ByHollie or Kate Illustrate, but you must supply your own wine bottle of choice to be painted.

Wine Carrier

If your friend is keen on picnics, garden parties, or any sort of drinking-wine-outdoors activity, then a wine bottle carrier is a lovely gift idea. I personally love my wicker wine carrier, which carries 4 bottles of wine (or beer, or anything in between), but you can also get carriers made from fabric/hessian or leather for a luxurious feel.

Wine Pump / Preserving Set

If your friend is one for the odd glass of wine, but won’t necessarily drink a whole bottle in one sitting, then having something ready to preserve the leftovers is a fabulous gift idea. Wine pumps remove the air from inside your opened bottle, and then seals it using an airtight stopper. Our go-to is the Black Nickel Wine Pump from Le Creuset, but you can also find affordable dupes online.

Monthly Bottle Subscription

If you’re not quite sure what your wine lover’s favourite varietal is, then a monthly subscription is the perfect solution. These services deliver hand-selected wines straight to their door, often tailored to taste preferences or seasonal themes. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, month after month. Here are a few of our trusted wine subscription providers:

Wine Display / Holder

Why hide a beautiful bottle of wine away in the cupboard when you can make it part of the home decor? A sleek wine rack, statement wall holder, or even a chic tabletop display can be a wonderful gift for those who love entertaining in style, or are passionate about homeware. Shop around in vintage stores, or even places like Homesense, and you’ll often be able to find super unique wine holders.

Champagne Bucket

Every wine lover deserves to serve their bubbles in style. A champagne bucket is not only practical (for keeping bottles perfectly chilled), but it also adds a touch of occasion to any celebration. Hammered copper is an absolute favourite of mine, but you can also find champagne buckets in stainless steel or brushed gold finishes.

Wine-Themed Foodie Items

Wine and food go hand in hand, so foodie-themed gifts always go down a treat. Shop around your favourite farmers market, speciality food stores, and local delis for foodie items that incorporate wine. Some of our favourite finds include:

Moleskin Wine Journal

Moleskin Passion Journals are known for their incredible quality, so, when I spotted this elegant wine journal on their website, I just had to include it in this gift guide! The wine journal allows you to record each and every wine you try, your rating, plus space to jot down pairings, and other information you’d like to remember. Plus, the colour is completely customisable, so you can choose something that best suits the wine lover you are buying a gift for.

Books About Wine

Whether your lucky gift recipient is keen to dive deep into the history of Bordeaux or just want a fun, approachable guide to grape varieties, a beautiful wine book can be a great read, or simply to style on their coffee table. Here are a few interesting wine-themed books to consider:

Gorgeous Wine Glasses

Even the best bottle of wine deserves the right glass. If your wine lover is one for luxury – opt for a brand that is timeless and elegant. Or, if their style is more eclectic and bold, opt for wine glasses that are brightly coloured or themed. Here are a few of my favourite places to purchase wine glasses:

  • Riedel
  • Wedgwood
  • Chateau Baccarat
  • Royal Dolton
  • Waterford

Or for something more fun:

  • Anthropologie
  • Oliver Bonas
  • TK Maxx / Homesense
  • Not On The High Street
  • Etsy

An Extra Special Bottle Of Wine

So what do we mean by ‘extra special’? Well, it could obviously be a gorgeous bottle of wine with a bit more of an expensive price tag, but it doesn’t always have to mean splashing out. A bottle becomes truly special when it has a story attached to it.

Think about what wine was served at their wedding, a trip abroad they loved, or the closest winery to their home. Maybe it’s the first bottle you ever shared together, or a vintage from their birth year (if your budget stretches that far!).

If you’re unsure where to start, specialist wine merchants are brilliant at helping you track down unusual vintages or wines with a personal connection. And if in doubt, choose something beautifully presented – wax seals, wooden boxes, or a personalised label can make even a simple bottle feel like a luxury wine gift.
